F, CISTEH LECTURES AT THE JUNIOR HIGH Dr. J F ChristenBen of Salt Lake, secretary of the state board of dental examiners, delivered a lecture last night at the Central junior high school before the members of tho Ogden Dental club, teachers, pupils and other -interested persons, on the subject 05 oral hygiene. The lecture was arranged for the Ogden Dental club by Drs. A. W. Watson, president, and Dr. A. D. Barber, secretary. In speaking on the care of the teeth and preventive denlstry, Dr. Christianson applied his remarks' particularly par-ticularly to the public schools as the field wherein those subjects should be seriously taught. He stated that much good had already resulted from the introduction of oral hygiene into tho public schools, but that there was still much room for improvement. Continuous consideration of the subject, sub-ject, he Bald, would result in improv ing many cases of mental and physical phys-ical weakness In students, the cause of which could bo traced to diseased teeth. The lecture was illustrated with an excollent collection of lantern slides showing the serious conditions that result from neglecting tho teeth, and demonstration to everyone present the importance of a more general understanding un-derstanding of tho rolation of teeth to health and personal efficiency. Dr. Christensen was enthusiastically enthusiastic-ally lecelved, and his lecture thoroughly thor-oughly appreciated, especially by the pupils, who, for a number of weeks past, have, been making a study of the subject in the English department. |
