Sometime ago a sub-com-mlttco conducted hearings on tho subject. sub-ject. The information submitted at that time is regarded as most Interesting. Inter-esting. A disposition seoms evident among the members of the whole committee to take some definite action ac-tion on whether or not a bill should bo favorably reported at this session of congress. A prominent member of the committee com-mittee said that if such a bill is reported, re-ported, out for tho consideration of the houso there will be no doubt about Its passage by a substantial majority. ma-jority. In making this statement, he said that ho had not found any member mem-ber who seemed to bo opposed to the proposition. Tremendous pressure seems to have been brought on the members of both houses by constituents constitu-ents in behalf of a rate of one cent on drop letters. The movement for this legislation seems to be thoroughly thorough-ly national in scope as the appeals for action are coming from every section sec-tion of the country. Representative Moon of Tennessee, chairman of the house postal committee com-mittee says: "That many hundreds of thousands of letters have been re- ceived by tho committee, and In the j last five or six years petitioned on which names aggregating more than three millions of voters in the United I States are signed urging this reduction reduc-tion In postage.
