April 1 Fierce fighting is taking place southeast of Baligrod between the upper reaches of the river San and the great Carpathian ridge The Austrlans during the last few days have made serious and determined de-termined counter attacks with the object ob-ject of recapturing positions recently lost, but the only result of these des perate struggles has been that they have left thousands of prisoners In the hands of the Russians The latter lat-ter in following up their successes have gained additional ground. The Austrian officers captured declare de-clare they received categorical orders or-ders not to budge from the Carpathian Carpa-thian position, as the fate of the cam palgn depended on it.
