Show WOMAN IN MAN'S POSITION The flrat woman to hold the masculine mascu-line position ot circuit clerk ot Vernon Ver-non county, Missouri, was recently appointed ap-pointed by Governor Stephens. She Is Mrs. Olcssner Mooro llrady, tho only child ot Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Moore, and the niece of Thomas D. McKay, who waa for aeveral years general passenger agent of tht Ilurllngton road at San Frandaco, and Ii now representing rep-resenting American railroads and steamship line at YoVohaio-Jp-JC Mrs. llrady was born ln Nevada, Mo., about twenty-flvo years ago. She waa educated In the school ot her natlvo city and at Mary Institute, St. Loula. In 189S tho married Henry C. Drady, who was then circuit clerk ot Vernon county, and entered his office aa doputy clerk. The husband and wife MRS. 0. M. I1RADY. were popular In their office, and lost summer, after Mr. Ilrady'a health hod failed, be waa again nominated for the position and elected. Dec. 2 he died. Tbe following day the local bar of Neve 1". adopted resolutions urging the appointment of Mrs. llrady to the office of-fice Just made vacant by tho death ot her husband. Governor Stephens, fsmlllar with the facta in the caae, laiued a commission to Mrs. llrady Dec 5, and sho was aworn In by Judge D, P. Stratton of tbe Vernon circuit court u circuit clerk of Vernon county. |
