Show Chicago Grain Chicago, July 2. Unsettled weather threatening further delay to the harvest harv-est of the domestic winter crop led to an advance today in the price of wheat. The July option, especially, showed strength owing to increasing chances of a scarcity that would make deliveries difficult on current contracts. con-tracts. Demand was chiefly from shorts. After opening 5-8c off to 3-4c up, the market scored material gains all around Corn responded to the strength of wheat. Besides there was evidence of a good cash demand. The opening, which varied from l-8l-4c lower to a shade advance, was followed by a moderate general upturn. Active call from the seaboard gave oats a decided lift. Incidentally a tendency developed to widen the July-September July-September period. Provisions sagged owing to weak ness in the hog market. Hogs showed a big increase compared with the corresponding time last week and a year ago. Subsequently reports that fie hundred hun-dred thousand bushels of wheat, mostly most-ly new crop, had been disposed of to the French government, helped further fur-ther to encourage the bulls. So also did predictions that much of the new winter wheat would prove to be ot poo r quality. The close was strong at 1 3-84 1-Sc not advance. The readiness with which country corn offerings were absorbed helped to sustain the advance. The close was firm l-43-S to 5-S3-4c above last night. Chicago.
