Show uu FREIGHT TURDS ARE TO BE CONSTRUCTED AT FAIR GROUNDS The Ogden, Logan & Idaho Railway Rail-way company has planned a number of improvements of Importance, and Manager P. D Kline stites that, as soon as conditions are (favorable, building operations will begin. It is possible that Bome of tho improvements improve-ments may bo made this fall. A depot will be built in Logan, at a cost of about $30,000, and it Is expected ex-pected that this Improvement will bo pushed to an early completion, as depot de-pot facilities In tho Temple City are meagre. From $40,000 to $50,000 will be oxpended in tho construction of freight yards at the Ogden Fair grounds. Mr. Kline states that tho grounds were originally purchased for the purpose of erecting car barns and repair shops, but that the company has changed its plans and concluded to establish the froight yards at that point New car barns and repair shops will bo erected at a cost of about $140,000. The location has not yet been selected, but thore Is little doubt but that It will bo In Ogden. Logan members of tho company's board of directors, however, are urging tho company to mnko the improvement in Logan, and Logan has gone so far as to offer a freo site for the barns and shops with a bonus. Ogden, however, how-ever, Is considered to bo the logical place. At an early date tho company will also begin construction work on the Ogden-Harrlsvllle cutoff, which will extend from Lincoln avenuo and Seventeenth Sev-enteenth street to Harrlsvillo, paralleling paral-leling tho Oregon Short Line tracks. Switches aro being built on tho line between Ogdon and Preston and other improvements are being made, necessitating tho expenditure of largo sums of money. Last spring the company authorized bonds amounting to $10.0QO,000, of which $2,000,000 were to be used in paying off other bonded indebtedness and $8,000,000 for extensions and improvements. Of the latter amount tho board of directors direc-tors has directed tho expenditure of $300,000 for tho improvement above mentioned. oo |
