GIE -:- Tomorrow afternoon on the Glen-park Glen-park athletic grounds, the 1915 season sea-son for the Utah high school football league will be opened with a game between tho Ogdon and Jordan high school elevens. Tho contest has been keenly anticipated by tho students of both schools ever since the official schedule was announced and it Is ex-peqted ex-peqted by the business manager of the Ogden High School Athletic association associa-tion that the stands at the park will be crowded with rooters Locally, it was reported today that upwards of 400 tickets had been sold, which Is taken as a forecast of a record-breaking attendance for an opening game. The Jordan boys are expected to arrive ar-rive In Ogden with a big crowd of adherents, about 1 p. m. tomorrow, and the game will begin at 3 o'clock. This morning at the Ogden high school the last of a series of football rallies, that has run through a period of several weeks, was held. A number num-ber of popular selections were played by the school band, under the direction direc-tion of Mnrcellus Smith and the subject sub-ject of athletics was generally discussed discuss-ed by A. A. Kerr and N W. Cum-mings Cum-mings of the faculty. These features were previously programmed and created cre-ated much enthusiasm among the students, stu-dents, but the depth of the school spirit was not made wholly evident uutil the special program of surprise "stunts" was staged by members of the athletic association and a charming charm-ing "co-ed." This program was a series of living liv-ing pictures, In which tho Orange and Black football team was depicted as the Jordan team as the loser. One of the most clever pictures was acted out by Wendell Fitzgerald, as the Boston Red Sox, Herman Griffin as the Phillies, Captain Louie Falck as the Ogden high school eleven, Walter Rolapp as the Jordan eleven and Miss June Reeve as Victory. All of the players were appropriately costumed and in the course of the action, Boston Bos-ton handed a horseshoe to "Ogden high", the Phillies sympathized with Jordan, who appeared badly battered, and to close the scene, Victor' was presented to Captain Falck. During the assembly, some acts of class rivalry not programmed were "put on,'' adding to the general Interest. In-terest. oo |
