Scheid, Henry K. Russell. Nominoes for city auditor E. A Bock and Fred C. Bassett Total vote cast, 15,305. Total cast at mayoralty primaries -four years ago, 19,630. Approximately half the voters of Salt Lake City wont to tho polls at the city primaries yesterday and nominated nom-inated the ticket for the municipal offices of-fices which will come up for election November 2. Interest in tho primary election was passive, and the personnel of the ticket tick-et nominated was about as predicted in the wagering, the "straw voting" and tho prophecies of most of the political po-litical wiseacres of Second South street Although general apathy marked the campaign up to the primaries, there promises to bo an end of it now that tho contest is narrowed down and the goal is actual election Instead of mere nomination. The liveliness of the race for mayor between W. Mont Ferry and Richard P Morris was hinted hint-ed at by Lon J. Haddock, campaign manager for Morris, who. in a statement state-ment last night tartly declared war on Candidate Ferry. Bock teads Everybody. Mr. Ferry was the high man for mayor In yesterday's voting Herman II. Green ran away from tho other candidates for the nomination for city commissioner, but it remained for E. A. Bock, candidate for city auditor, to roll up the largest majority at the primaries. He received 9700 votes, over 1000 votes more than Green, the second highest man, and Is Just a trifle short of twice as much as the four other candidates Tor auditor put together The race for the four nominations for city commissioners developed what little real excitement there was to the primary election There were twelvo candidates, seven of whom were regarded of sufficient voting strength to be factors |
