Show . Congressmen Not Wanted at River Meet, says Dern Governor George H. Dern, who ownes large Interests In Bingham, has announced that he will oppose the participation of congressmen in the Colorado river meet to be held In Denver, Aug. 10. This is the date tentatively selected by the seven states to meet and discuss the possibilities pos-sibilities of developing the Colorado river. Chief of the objections set forth by the Utah governor , Is voiced against allowing congressmen and senators of the various states to participate par-ticipate in the meet. "The presence of such a large number will preclpate a talkfest fordoomed to failure," declares Governor Dern. The original suggestion of Governor Gover-nor Dern that the conference attend- ; ' ance be limited to the governors and T two river commissioners from each slate, was enlarged by the governors of Wyoming, New Mexico and Colorado Colo-rado to include congressmen and senators sen-ators as well as other interested persons. per-sons. Governor Dern is now attending the annual governor's conference in " Michigan, where he declared Tuesday that- he would oppose the develop- ment of the river until an amicable settlement had been reached by the representatives of all the seven states. |
