Ida., March 26 The public utilities commission rendered a divided divid-ed opinion today on the application of the Beaver River Power & Light company for a certificate of convenience conven-ience and necessitj In the city of Pocatello The majority opinion, In which President Axe p Ramstedt and Commissioner John W Graham concur, con-cur, denies the application and orders that the petition be dismissed This order bars the Beaver River people trom entering the Pocatello field In competition with the Southern Idaho Water Power company, now in control con-trol of it Commissioner A. L. Free-tiafer, Free-tiafer, In a dissenting opinion, holds that a certificate of public conven line and necessitv permitting the competition between the two compa nies and the Beaver River company to enter the fieid should be granted. The case is one that grew out of the bitter hydro-electric power war waged in southern Idaho between the bip operating coi porations The Beaver River Power & Light company made application for a certificate cer-tificate permitting it to go into the Pocatello territory, from which it had been barred by a former order to the commission. This order was entered I November 7, 1914. The old commls sion acted on the application. The Beaver River company renewed its application ap-plication for a certificate after the commission changed. Tbe order that has been rendered holds, as did the old commission, that a certificate should not bo granted. |
