Ill, .Tun 21 Mcdil) McCormlck of Chicago, who as a Progressive Pro-gressive member of the legislature, re-I re-I cently cast his lot with the Republic- j I ana, announced tonight that he had resigned two months ago as the H- ! linois member of the national Progressive Pro-gressive committee. Harold Ickes or Chicago has been elected to fill the vacancy caused by his resignation, it was stated "f resigned from the national commission com-mission about a week before the meeting meet-ing of the executive committee of the national commission which was held in Chicago more than iwo months ago." said Mr McCormlck. ' I Avas importuned to retain my membership on the committee, but desired de-sired to quit. A nnouncomcnt of my resignation was not made public at j the time " Mr. McCormlck, who was considered i ono of Colonel Roosevelt's strongest j supporters in Illinois, refused to give any reason for his resignation. Asked ! if differences of opinion with other members of the committee were the cause, he refused to answer.' Mr. McCormick said, however, that one reason was his wish to be free to go to Europe In the near future. |
