The Ladles of the .Maccabees cele brated Children's day at Liberty park Friday, August 28. Seventy-five little lit-tle fellows of all ages enjoyed themselves them-selves playing all sorts of games and felling stories, winding up with n lunnheon of ice cream anh homemade home-made cakes. The young people were given sacks of nuts and candy. The committee in charge did their utmost to give the little ones a good time and hereafter the ladies Intend to make Children's day one of their banner days of the year and both old and young will undoubtedly look for ward to It with pleasure. Mrs. Owen, an aged pioneer, was present and gave a sketch of her life and experiences. ex-periences. Mrs. Owen is exceptional ly bright and well preserved for one of her age and the ladles of company A wrm dclls'ited In having her pres rnt Mr Owen's husband, the late James Owen, was a member of the Mormon Battalion. Mrs Sadie West of the general board was present and organized the new division com pany O Company B held an interesting meeting with Mrs. Bessie Draper, 337 Twenty-second street. This company was also divided and company I, or ganlzed by Mrs. Richards and Mrs. Wood was presided over by Mrs Ellen Emmett Greenwell. Following the business session, Mrs Bessie Milliard sang a solo after which Mrs. Lucy Nixon, a pionepr of the state, gave reminiscences of early life In Utah and of her experiences in crossing the plains. Myranda Pool and Mrs. Hen rletta Williams, also pioneers, gave interesting talks and told of narrow ep -apes from death when crossing the plains. Later, Mrs Draper, assisted' by ht-r mother, Mrs, Ellen Lee, and Mrs rcs.-ir Milliard served light refreshments re-freshments Other companies of the Daughters ot Pioneers were also divided and new companies organized All members are interested in the play "The Daughter Daugh-ter of a Pioneer.'1 which will be given next September 28 and 29.
