Show FUSION TICKET NAMED BY PROGRESSIVES Al DEMOCRATS Democrats and Progressiv ps of Weber We-ber county succeeded Saturday afternoon after-noon In naming a fusion ticket, the IVmoerats naming seven of the fifteen fif-teen candidates and the progres-i' -nominating eight. Each convention confirmed the action of the other and each ticket will contain the names ot al the candidates nominated Harmony prevailed In the Democratic Demo-cratic ranks and every thing moved along as smoothh as though the plan had been carefully reviewed by the leaders of the party and It was sim ply a matter of form to confirm their action in convention. The mention of President Wilson's name was received with enthusiasm and the convention sympathized with the president in his sad bereavement Resolutions of condolence were passed pass-ed and ordered forwarded to the White House. The Democratic convention placed itself on record as favoring the use of the paper ballot rather than the vot Ing machines at the coming election i ai d a committee was appointed to confer with the county commissioners with a view to having the old Australian Aus-tralian ballot system. There were only three contests for nominations among the Democrats, In which Samuel Thomas was defeated for 2-year-commitsloner bv Henry L Maw by a vote of 32 to 38 A L Fife defeated H. C Peterson for sheriff j bv a vote of 35 to 28 and O. M. Sanderson San-derson won out In a three-cornered I contest for assessor against J. B- Trimble and J. M Bailey, the vote I being Sanderson 34. Trimble 18 and J Bailey 9. The other nominations were 1 made by acclamation. George Loch- I head opposed the nomination ot I Thomas in a vigorous speech 1 I There was no friction whatever m I the Progressive convention except on I the question of fusion and the final vote on that question was pract: unanimous The fight against fue oil was vigorously made by former Chairman Chair-man G. J.
