The Indian who was intoxicated, asked Clark why he had . stolen his jug of whisky and demanded demand-ed its instant return Mr Clark, i thinking the redskin was hurorous i ly inclined, told him that he did not i have any whteky and drove on. About 10 o'clock, as he neared Colton Col-ton something went wrong with the car, and while he was crawling be neath It to ascertain the cause of the trouble the Indian rode up behind bim and shot him In the back Clark lay for several hours In the 1 roadway until another traveler heard - hih groans and took him to Colton where help was telephoned for at Price.
