Lieutenant Matt GaiT, a graduate Ol the Ogden high school, who has been on leave of absence from the army, will depart tor Honolulu on I 1 1 her 1 to rejoin his command Lieutenant Garr began his military careei in 1906 as a cadet private in the Ogden high school He soon rose from the ranks to the position of Captain of Company B and then of I Company A This position he heki until his graduation He enlisted In the National Guard Ci Utah In April. 1908. and rec 1 Hie rank of corporal the following month He received an honorable I discharge in May of the same year, land in October 1909, re-enlisted "He aa again promoted to the rank of , corporal two month after his enlist ! ment. then to sergeant and honorably i discharged as sergeant and sharp- shooter In May, 1911 During this time, he participate in the annual maneuvers of the I'nlted States army at the t row reek reservation, Wyoming, In August, Au-gust, 1908 and August. 1010 Durint; the winters of 1909 and 1910 he at tended the instruction Bchool fori bmmissloned officers of the National Guard of L'tah.
