New York baseball fans divided their patronage pa-tronage between the polo grounds today whore tho American leaguors opened with Philadelphia, and Ebbels field, whero the Brooklyn Nationals faced Boston. The day opened clear and warm and the pilgrimage for tho opening of tho season began early. President Ebbets capturod John K. Tenor, president of tho National longue, for his opening attraction and tho governor consented to toss the first ball into play. Lieutenant Governor Wagner officiated offici-ated in similar fashion for tho American Ameri-can leaguerB at tho Polo grounds. |
