Show tection which the public should be 1 wise enough to take advantage of. "We are returning the policy. Yours very truly, J. O. McQUARRIE, Commissioner of Insurance" COITKK EXPORTERS, INC Government approval of the new copper exporting combination, which was announced a few days two, is undouutiii:! ti.i most hnportant bull news for copper producers since the close of the World War. The im-mcdiuta im-mcdiuta result was an a.lvanee 'of twenty-seven shillings in the London market, the biggest improvement recorded re-corded in any two days him e ti o armistice arm-istice was signed. It is not yet known just what methods will be used to handle the market; but, eon-sideline eon-sideline the standing of the men ut the head of the organization, it is certain that far-seeing, broad-minded and intelligent elforts will bo made to help producer by holding back supplies for favorable market in,; conditions. con-ditions. After all, the present world surplus is not a serious matter, ex-j ex-j cept when i!;at surplus is thrown into an unwilling market at saerfice prices. The. increased consumption of copper has been so great in recent years, and there is such certain promise of ca n greater proportionate 'consumption in the years to come, that a little common com-mon sense in marketing n,:ty be expected ex-pected to accomplish wondi'i's. Every thing points to better conditions i'!r the producer through sane recognition recogni-tion of the immutable law of supply and demand. We expect to see the metal selling at fifteen cents within very short time and above that figure in the next six months. It in cheering cheer-ing to know that this government has at last recognized the fact that cooper coo-per producing is big business and that it must, therefore, be handled in a big way. This particular or-ganiation or-ganiation will go far in keeping up the price of copper to a fair level and thus also maint;iin the American standard of living among its army of employees. VYH4T CHANCES DO YOU TAKE IN BUYING ACCIDENT INSURANCE Notwithstanding the fact that we . have- strict supervision of insurance sold in the State of Utah, companies handling shady forms of accident and all other kinds of insurance still attempt at-tempt to operate in this vicinity and 4 do occasionally sell a policy. . A West Jordan resident recently purchased a policy and upon investi- gation received the following letter from the State Commissioner of Insurance, In-surance, which is self explanatory and which we reprint here for the benefit of people considering the purchase pur-chase of insurance. "Oct. 20, 1926 Dear Sir: "In answer to your communication of the Kith .will state Tiiat the Union National Life Ins. Co., of Kansas City, Mo., is one of the companies referred re-ferred to in the "Warning" which wc sent out to the insuring public. This c.mpany is not admitted to do business busi-ness in this State. It is, therefore, not under the supervision of this Department De-partment It has no agents and no process attorney in this State upon whom a summons could be served. "There are more contested claims arising out of health and accident policies than all the other forms of insurance combined. "Because of the nature of the policies pol-icies and the nature of the claims submitted, sub-mitted, there are sure to be cases, or claims sumbitted by policyholders or beneficiaries, wherein, according to the terms of the policy, the company com-pany will conclude that there is no legal liability. "The services of this Department are very often required to get the facts connected with claims so arranged ar-ranged and presented that companies will recognize liability. It is our opinion that residents, of the State are taking unnecessary risks when they deal with companies not authorized author-ized to do business in the State. "You understand, of course, that this policy provides only for accidental accident-al death, or accidental injury. The accidental insurance offered by the three leading papers of the state, while it is a little more restricted the indemnity for the accidents for which such policies provide is very much larger, for such protection the applicant ap-plicant pays only $1 per year. The $3,450 per annum charged by this company is sufficient to cover all the accidents provided for in the policy. Insurance is not a bargain counter business. In any event you pay for . the protection you get, but every state of the Union has found it advisable ad-visable and necessary to place insurance insur-ance under careful supervision, and to provide for the public certain pro- |
