Show MORMON KILLS TWO BANDITS El Paso. Tex., Dec 31 One American Amer-ican Mormon. V. H . C'arland ol San Jose, Chihuahua, killed two Mexican bandits wounded two more and frightened another pair away as they were counting three, preparatory to shooting him because he could not produce the necessary ransom monev to buy his release. The bandits ;ip-peared ;ip-peared at the home of P. N. Scousau at Casas Grandes, Saturday niht and demanded money. As Sconsan, who is a Mormon, had none, he gave them provisions instead. They went on to the ranch of Carland at San Jose, taking tak-ing one of Scousan's sons with them as guide. Reaching the Carland home they battered in the door and covered Car-land Car-land with their guns. They demanded demand-ed t.-nii tor his liberty When he refused re-fused and called them cowards and thieves he was led from the house and taken to a nearby grove where he was stood in front of a tree. Before leaving the house and afteer h had been searched Carland concealed con-cealed a revolver under his left arm In such a way that the Mexicans did not discover it. They stood him against the tree and the chief of the bandits ordered the five men to kill the grinuo when the count of three was Khen.
