Show WILSON MAY MEET LIND ON OCEAN Pass Christian, Miss., Dec. 31 This little Dixie village will be the scene of a critical conference bearing upon future relations between Mexico fnd this country. For the first time tince that memorable August day when John Lind was dispatched to Mexico City by President Wilson, the two men will confer and exchange impressions of the situation as it exists ex-ists at present That the conference has been arranged as the result of an important shift In the Huerta administration admin-istration there seems to be no question. ques-tion. The details of the conference are as yet being carefully guarded; President Presi-dent Wilson has not disclosed when or where it will be held. The present plans, however, indicate that the president will be aboard the revenue 'cutter Winona at the Gulfport wharf as soon as he is notified that the Chester is off the harbor, and meet Mr. Lind aboard the cruiser. The president Is anxious for as much pri 1 facy as possible and his aversion to photographers and moving picture men has been sharply emphasized on ! this trip. He does not relish the pro&-I pro&-I pect of Mr. Lind being besieged by newspaper men upon his arrival here, i I and it seems probable that he will ! make a trip to sea to avoid such a situation. Mr, Lind's plans following the conference con-ference are not known. He may go directly back to Vera Cruz or may take a trip to St. Paul. Minn., to see his wife, who returned from Mexico some time ago. There is a chance that the president considers the "Lind mission" to Mexico ended and j that he is contemplating a change of J policy toward the Huerta regime, which will make the presence of a personal envoy to Mexico no longer necessary, or possible. William J. Flynn, chief of the secret sec-ret service, is expected to reach Pass I Christian tomorrow. No significance j attaches to his visit, it is stated. |
