Show APPENDICITIS FATAL TO POPULAR GIRL. Salt Lake, Jan. 1. Miss Blanch Henderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Henderson of 252 Fifth East street and one of the most popular young women attending the University Univer-sity of Utah, died yesterday morning at 8:30 o'clock In the Grove6 L. D. S. hospital after a brief illness of five days Her death comes as a seere! shock to scores of Btudents at the university and a large circle of trlends in the city, who knew little or nothing of her illness until the news of her death came Miss Henderson enjoyed the family festivities on Christmas day and seemed to be in fairly good health. On the morning of the day following she was suddenly stricken and on the next morning was removed to the hospital In a serious condition. Acute appendicitis developed quickly Into gangrene and peritonitis and yesterday yester-day morning, in the arms of her brother Earl, the girl, operated upon on her twenty-first birthday, passed away. Realizing her serious condition Miss Henderson called for the mem-bprs mem-bprs of her family yesterday morning. When they came to her bedside she told them she knew she was going to die. Almost lightly she remarked that she was the first of the family of five and that it might as well bo her as another When those in the room showed signs of uncontrollable tears she asked them to leave. When she breathed her last her favorite brother, Earl, was with her. On the eamo floor of the hospital was her sister, Martha, who has been a patient pat-ient there for the past three months. Blanch Henderson was the eldest daughter of a family of five, throe girls and two boys, the others being Martha, Leah, Earl and John. She was born here on December 27, 1892. She finished in the Oquirrh school In 1907 and graduated from the Salt Lake high school in June 1911. oo |
