Show I BRAY CELEBRATES POWER PLANT OPENING. Murray, Dec. 31. All Murray turn-i turn-i out today to witness the big par-t par-t held to celebrate the completion Ith e "municipal power plant. Olsen, marshal of the day, followed by the members of police and fire departments depart-ments in uniform on horseback Next came one band of twenty pieces, followed fol-lowed by carriages containing the city officials and members of the Welfare association, under whose auspices the Parade was held. Next came the Austrian societies and the combined lodges, followed by another band of twenty pieces, banners, and so forth j After parading the main streets, all gathered in fornt of the city hall; where speeches were made by J V. McHenry, president of the combined commercial clubs of Salt Lake county coun-ty and the Rev. P. A. Slmpkin of Salt Lake, after which the two bands played play-ed national airs. At night the streets were festooned with electric lights, for which the light was furnished by current from the municipal power plant A big banquet was held in the Eagles hall at which about 200 persons had made reservations at tables. J. W. Mc Henry was toastmaster and speeches were made by Mayor Huscher, T. J. Yates of Salt Lake, C. H. Banks, president pres-ident of the Commercial club. Dr. A. A. Bird, G. M. Mumford, Chief W. H Bywater of Salt Lake and Attorney-Lewis Attorney-Lewis Brown. While the banqueters were feasting dancing was enjoyed at the Trocadero hall, which was also decorated with electric lights and hangings. |
