Show BLOOD SHEO IN SMELTERSTRIKE i Tacoma, Wash., Jan. 5. Blood was 6hed today In the worst fight of the Tacoma smelter strike. Bricks and stones flew, clubs were wielded and a number of men's heads were crack ed Three strikers were arrested. Fifty armed deputy sheriffs and the town marshall of Ruston were escorting escort-ing a number of workmen to the plant, which had been closed because of the strike The strikers, with women wo-men and girls, lined the way taunting the men. Soon there was a free-for-all fight which finally was quelled There was an exchange of shots last night between strikers barricaded in a house and sharpshooters acting as deputies of the county sheriff. |
