Show DEDICATION OF 1 CHICAGO MISSION Chicago. Nov. 2 Mrs. Alice Kimball Kim-ball Smith, wife of Joseph F. Smith president of th Mormon church, sat in public meeting with him In the new church at Wright wood and Sawyer Saw-yer avenues today while he made a :-ppech passionateh defending his plural marriages and declanng that he would never desert any of his five wives. Mr.; Joseph F. Smith No 5. a kinl-ly kinl-ly faced, soft-olced, plainly dressed woman, who looks younger than her 52 years, smilingly admitted that her husband has four other wives in Salt Lake who are the mothers of thirty-six thirty-six of his forty -three children. "My advice to girls," said Mrs. Smith. ' is get married while you arc oung to some honest, right living, healthv. The function that brought President Presi-dent Smith and his wife to Sawyer and Wrlghtwooi avenues was the dedication of a new branch church of the Latter-day saints. In his address ad-dress at the dedication President Smith said: "I have never wronged any woman wom-an in my life I would hide my head in shame If I wronged any of these women given to me in the faith of my religion in the day when the law did not prohibit plural marriages an1 who have borne children to me. "I owe a sacred duty to shelter and protect tho.se wives. They were given to me for time and for eternity eter-nity and I will never desert one of them " |
