JV J f 1 Oakley I see a statement in the Park Record of g masquerade ball being given at Oakley and a shooting affair. I will say that the editor of the above named paper has been missin-form- ed as to the masquerade be ing given here, and it is to be hoped there never will be one. The ball in question was at Peoa, one of our ueighboriug towns. Some of tbe people Iront hers attended thiiikiug it their duty to be neighborly with their neighbors, also to help to defray the expenses on their new meeting house, as the ball was for that purpose. The shooting that took place was between Kenneth Jensen and Ricker Johnson, both of this place. Mr. Jensen was taking the part of a cowboy and Johnson was taking the part of tha King of Simon, and it was said that Johnsen was flourishing a large wooden knife and Jensen flourished a large revolver, and, like all other firearms, was not loaded, and Mr. Jensen levelled the weapon at Johnson with the following result: It seems that Jensen had taken the lead oat ot the cartridges and filled them with soap to ptevent the powder from falling out. Johnson says he saw the guv pointed at him but something prevented him from moving oat of tbe way and suddenly it seemed as though the roof had fallen on him. The shot knocked him down as though he had been struck iv the head with a sledge hammer. The soap bullet struck a little below -- the check bone ou tbe left side of the face. When the vietim fell te the floor, every one thought he was feigning, but as he did . not get up they became alarmed. Whet he got up a pool of blood was on the floor aad blood was still running from the wound. After a short time Jensen went out, pasted a cigarette paper over the wound, went back in the hall. It is said that he stayed until the dance was over and the next morning he went to Park City to have the wound dressed. . The doctor told him that if it had struck him in the yye or the temple, it would have resulted fatal.
