At' eight o'clock iu the morning, men, boys and teams were seen from all parts of the towu making their way to the place of gathering. gath-ering. Ily nine o'clock fully 90 men and boys und about 20 teams had made their appearance appear-ance prepared for the labor assigned. The work was entered into with a vim and iu a .systematic 'manner. As a result about Ooc loads of earth was taken 011 the roads, besides n greitt deal wm handled by scrapers Most of the work was done 011 Nw j Street. One would hardly recognize recog-nize the street. A splendid ' walk was laid tram the Ihimikss Section to the river bridge. I'liw give the fool passengers a clean path ironi the south side to the .-itorus, no matter what the weather may be. lu the evening nil those who had been engaged 011 the loads during the day were given a tree ticket 10 the ball held at the .Opera House. Every one felt .well iu the work. Ilesides im-I im-I proving the towu, this work gives rise to n public spirit mid a pride in the affairs of the public. pub-lic. It is an excellent work. Let us keep it up for a few years and our little town will be proud of its streets and sidewalks as well as the convenience they serve.
