Show CLEANING UP TARIFF BILL Democratic Caucus Completes Much of Its Work in Preparing the Measure For the SenateTo Sen-ateTo Prohibit En-try En-try of Goods Made By Child Labor Washington, July 1 The Democrats Demo-crats of the senate finance committee commit-tee met today to frame the bindine; caucus resolutions and clean up odds and ends of various tariff schedules. The resolution pledges senators to BUpport the bill, introduce no amendments amend-ments not approved by the finance commit iee and support none offered bj Republicans or Democrats who may remain out of the caucus All Deao- rats except Senators RansdelL Thorn-ion Thorn-ion and Hitchcock were expected to pledge themselves. The committee amended the child labor provision of the administrative section bo as to prohibit the entry of goods manufactured "principally by children under fourteen years of age In countries where there are no laws regulating child labor " This the committee believes will not be an Impediment nor result in excessive protraction Most European Euro-pean countries have child labor rep,ula Hons, some of the Asiatic countries being lax In such regulations. Among rate changes were the following: fol-lowing: Bananas from f cents a bunch to one-tenth of 1 cent per pound; apparatus ap-paratus for printing books for the blind placed on free list; cotton and woolen stockings, costing less than $1.0 a dozen; 30 per cent ad valorem, valo-rem, more than 1.20 a dozen. 50 per cent: east iron pipes transferred to free list, automobiles divided lnt.i three classes as follows: Costing above $1500, 4.r per cent; costing less th in (1500 and more than $1000. 30 per cent: costing 11000 o ? less. 15 per cent Chairman Simmons left toda for ' North Carolina on account of the I death 6f a grand daughter.
