The board of county commissioners commission-ers this morning took a decided stand I on the employing f deputies for the county assessor's office, a motion being be-ing unanimous: carried that no ur diem will be P,d deputlea ap-pointed ap-pointed bv the assessor until the j principal of tbe office assures the board that he will do his duty in the office and show to the board that it Is necessary to have assistance The motion as made in response to a communication from Assessor Thomas MfttfiOWS, calling attention to j the fact that it Is incumbent upon liJm to prepare certain blotters during dur-ing he month of October and that it cannot well be done without the aid of a deputy The assessor ad-. ad-. Ised the board that If delay be caused in getting out the blotters, thai It may be impossible to get out the assessment rolls for the year, as required by law The motion was made by ( ommKaloner Bybee and voied for by bo'h Chairman Moroni Skeen aud Commissioner Hunter. Chairman Skeen st3ted further that he felt that the matter should be given careful and unflinching consideration con-sideration and he thought it was time to learn whether the assessor should not be compelled to do the work in his office the same as other county officials do.
