Tex, Galveston ami 1 Fort Worth, and owned Ice manufacturing manufac-turing plants in various parts of the country He was bead of the foreign department of the St Louis World's Mr. BtiBch's philanthropies were numerous, nu-merous, one of his most recent belnc a gift of 5150,000 to Harvard unlversL ty for the establishment of a Germanic Ger-manic institute. Every year he gave 15000 to the convent of the Good Shepherd in St Louis. His most recenl local benefaction was a gift of $L'o,000 for i-o erection of a memorial me-morial to Carl Schurz. Emll Preetori us and Carl Daenzer, the trio of German Ger-man editors who flourished In St. Louis about the time of the civil war. Though his home was in St. Louis, Lou-is, in recent years Mr. Busch spent but a smallportion of his time here. He usually passed the winter in Pasa dena, Cal , aud his summers In Ger- & many, stopping in St. Louis about six - weeks In the spring and fall. For years he had ben in poor health. Mr Busch who uied at the age of 76, was the last of twenty one chll dren. He Is survived by a widow and five daughters, Mrs. Jacob W. Loeb of Chicago, Mrs. Huga Reisinger of New York, Mrs Paul von Gontard of Germany, Mrs. Kdward A. Faust ol' St. Louis, and Mrs. Edward Scharrcr of Stuttgart, Germany Two Bons--AuguBt A. Busch and Carl Busch, both of St. Louis, also survive him. |
