Show COUNTY DENIES COMPANY'S PETITION : The board of county commissioners, in an adjourned session today denli d the petition of the Utah Power it I Light company, for the segregation of I a light and telephone franchise formerly for-merly given to the Davis County In- dependent Telephone & Light company, com-pany, offering as a reason that the company would not agree to furnish free lights for fne count infirmary The commissioners are agreed that if any concessions are made to the new company there should be some com- IJeusuuuu ij The Utah Power & Light company u purchased the holdings of the Dals county company, among other things , purchasing the Weber count) fran- I chise for the operation of a telephone j and an electric distributing system. This company also purchased the electric light Franchise and distributing distrib-uting system of the Merchants' Light & Power company In this city and. through the former manager of the; latter company, P. M Parry, petl- tloned the board of commissioners to segregate the Davis county company franchise annulling tbe telephone franchise but keeping intact the electric elec-tric light part of the privilege The company is seeking to be dispossess- ; ed of the telephone end of the company, com-pany, fearing that It mav cause en-1 tanglcmcnts at some future time and perhaps jeopardize the electric light, part of tbe franchise.
