Show CHEAP POWER FOR STATE v SCHOOLS Within a short time the State Industrial In-dustrial school and the State School for the Deaf and Blind will be receiving re-ceiving power for lighting purposes from the state power plaut at the mouth of Logan canyon, but neither Supt E. G Cowans of ihe Industrial school nor Supt F M Drlggs of Ihe deaf school has received official Information stating when or how the electricity is to be received. Mr Gorans stated today that he understood all state institutions were, to be supplied with power from the plant and that the entire output was. to be turned over to the Teliuride Power compan; , . which is now con-1 trolled by the Utah Power & Light i company for transmission The power company will distribute distrib-ute It to tbe several institutions in! the state While he has no definite in- formation on the subject, he believes a transforming station will be locat- I ed between the two state institutions institu-tions In Ogden and the power will be I I taken from that one station The ' trunk lines of the company extend I over tbe hills just north of the two! j schools Supt Driggs has received no of f i -I clal Information on the subject, but I understands that ihe power Is to be turnlshed to state Institutions at cost Dr Gowans understands also that the Industrial school would pay for Ihe electricity at reduced rates. Two years ago the state, under the appropriations for the Agricultural college at Logan, provided for toe construction of a power plant at Lo- gan canyon from which to supply various va-rious state institutions. The plant. Is I now about completed. It is understood that the power is to be carried to Ogden and Salt Lake on the lines of the Utah Power Light company In Salt Lake, however, how-ever, they arc having difficulty.
