A death list ns long as is recorded In some of the country's worst mine disasters has resulted from accidents during the building of the new aqueduct from the Catskllls to New York, according to figures published here. Since the first pick was struck on the aqueduct 200 men have been killed and 3.800 injured, most of the accidents havln resulted from explosions of dynamite The engineering work is said to bo second only to that of the Panama canal, where 1,087 deaths from violence vio-lence have occurred In the eight years the canal has been building At present pres-ent there are about 11,000 men era-j era-j ployed on the aQUeduc! |
