TODAY Salt Lake, April 1ft. -Coach Porter of the University of I'tah will leave this morning with fifteen men for Logan, where he will meet the Aggies- in the first Intercollegiate baseball game of the year. It had been formerh planned to meet the B Y C. today hut as the B. Y. C Is noi eligible for the champlonrhlp of the state, jt was thought that more profit would come from a meeting between the varsitv and the Agglcs The Logan fans live with only one hope that of beating the university It has been their ambition ever since the school was established to win a football championship from the university uni-versity and only once have they done It They failed to do it in basketball and now they are straining every effort ef-fort to do it in baseball. There Is little probability that thov will, though, because of their loss of Schweitzer, last year's pitcher. Schweitzer was about half of their team last year and even then they were unable to win from the varsity. The local school, on the contrary, has the same team as last year, and with Schweitzer out of the game should win easily from Logan The men who will make the trip are Sutherland, Mulr, F Stadk. Udy, Petty, O Romnev, Maughn, Holm-stead. Holm-stead. L, Romney, Fitzpatrick. Peterson, Peter-son, Hurlbut. W. Stack, Kinkaid. Coach Porter and Manager Cameron. If the weather clears up sufficiently sufficient-ly for the track to dry by this afternoon. after-noon. Coach Bennion will try and hobi a meet for freshmen and high school aspirants. |
