Feb. 17 From authoritative authori-tative private sources il Is learned that Mr Morgan had an acute attack of Indigestion three or four days ago, but It passed off and he is now in his usual health. Egypt, saying that he had so far recovered from an altac k of acute Indigestion In-digestion he suffered recently that he had decided to return to Cairo and not go to Europe as at first planned An active member of .1 P Morgan & Co affirmed that Mr Morgan had an acute attack of indigeaiion Tuesday Tues-day or Wednesday of last week and added that J P. Morgan, Jr., had on Saturday received reassuring advices rrom his father. Indicating that the atlack was practically over It was said that Mr Morgan s family fam-ily and friends felt absolutely no concern con-cern regarding him J P Morgan & Co. also received a cablegram from Mr Morgan. It was dated Cairo and said Mr. Morgan was in good spirits and probably would Bta a fortnight Speculators Alarmed. Reports of Mr Morgan s illness alarmed speculators on the Now York stoek market and when trading began stocks were unloaded in in larce amounts. Bull traders hastily closed out contracts and there was also heavy selling by the bears Prices broke abruptly. In all the speculative leader there were 'wide openings " The first tran sactions In Steel amounted to over '.-000 '.-000 shares at fi2 to 60 7-8. a maximum decline of 2 points Sales of 1,600 shares of Union Pacific broke the price of that stock to 155. a 2 point decline Reading sustained a like loss.
