oct 30 W vv J bryand addressed an immense crowd here today he took for his text republican testimony and declared that he could prove the correctness of nearly all the propositions set forth in the democratic platform testimony and gave the following as samples we favor an income tax the republican platform Is silent on the subject but president roosevelt Rooe evelt says that an income tax is just we favor tho the election of senators by the people the republican platform Is silent but mr taft says heis beis personally inclined to favor the proposition wo we are in favor of publicity as to campaign contributions the republican platform Is silent on the subject but mr taft and president roosevelt have both endorsed the idea of publicity although they do not want the publication cation made until after the election we are in favor of railroad regula regu tion and the president and mr taft have both endorsed this although their platform is not as specific as ours we are in favor of trial by jury in cases of indirect contempt the republican party Is opposed to this now and mr taft most bitterly assails it and yet the very measure which we endorse passed the republican senate 12 years bears ago with but one vote against it we are in favor of tariff fe reduction the president mr tatt taft and many prominent republicans have admitted that reduction la Is necessary and yet tho the republican platform promises revision instead of reduction we are in favor of the guaranty of bank deposits and while this Is opposed by the republican candidate the republican platform admits the needs need of more security when it advocates postal savings banks findley ohio oct 30 mr bryan was wag comparing the platforms of the republican and democratic parties on the tariff question and laid groat great stress on tho the fact that the democrats were demanding reduction while the republicans promised revision this led to a hot dialogue between a man in the crowd perched on the seat of a wagon and the democratic candidate how will reduction of tariff help the unemployed he be asked are you a republican mr bryan inquired and what Is your name never mind that answered tho the man answer the question that said mr bryan gives you a fair sample of his idea of justice lie he knows who I 1 am but I 1 have no right to know who he is 1 1 I made speeches for you all over the united states will you answer ari my question well sir you ought to be making speeches this year tell me who you are T the crowd by this time began to hiss the man and cried go ahead mr bryan well my friends said the democratic candidate if he be to Is ashamed to tell you he ought not to be out making speeches when a roan man goes to another mans meeting and asks a question he ought to be man enough to tell who he Is that got to do with it you cannot answer why does not your platform answer the unemployed proposition ion my friends give me your a attention said mr bryan he wants to know about the unemployed problem I 1 believe that the unemployed problem Is lue due to the fact that there is an unfair distribution of the wealth created and when we try to remedy the ovll evil that man inan helps to elect a republican to keep this unemployed problem before the country tho the crowd wildly cheered and a hurley man tried to haul baul the dJs disturber out of the crowd continuing mr bryan said 1 my platform mentions remedies and it mentions all the remedies that are within reach we say elect senators by the people and lot let the senators be responsive to the will of the people we will open the door of opportunity and give the young men a chance in tills this country 11 use uee of flowers theres no phosphorescence in flow ors ers to speak of but they may lighten up many a darkened spot
