Show HEAVY RAINFALL OUTSIDE OF OGDEN i for the last two days the weather in ogden has been rather threaten ing the sultry heavy heat of the i atmosphere atmos phero has strongly indicated a thunder storm with ith rain but the barometer has failed to mako make good last evening after the quite excessive hoat of the afternoon a sufficiently heavy wind prevailed to keep tho wearers bearers of straw hats chasing after them but no rain fell nothing tout but straws were precipitated the immediate signs however indicated that rain was very berv near with tho arrival of union pacific train no 1 I at a late hour yesterday after afternoon no 0 n the r report opo rt came ir that hat there had boon been aheady a heavy rainfall inthe in the mountains near the summit of t the h e was wasatch atch range and at a point near evanston the storm was not jabot confined locally buts buti it launched out into cloudbursts which built torrents of water flows in the gullies and mountain gorges of ane higher mountain m 0 buntain regions As no 1 of the union pacific came thundering down the mountain immediately this side of wasatch at a distance 0 of about 60 miles out from ogden along the weber river it came in f contact with a genuine cloudburst it was avas plainly visible from the train and ad I 1 the torrents of water g down the mountain barely missed the train I 1 and rather miraculously avoided submerging the track As soon as the train had reached a place of safety on this side of the torrent the danger lights were to warn the following t trains of impending danger |
