Show MACADAM ROAD ALONG THE ISTHMUS CANAL washington april 24 the department of municipal engineering la Is planning a complete system of macadam roads for the canal zone and work on them Is being pushed forward rapidly on account of the large lake that will be formed by the dam at gatun galun this road system naturally divided itself into two sections one leading from colon to gatun galun at the orth north n end of the lake and the other irom panama to georgona at the south end of the lake the road from colon to gatun galun gilr be about seven miles lont long and will be built some distance away from the railroad in order to give the inhabitants of the zone an additional means of transportation in the vicinity of panama there have been constructed since american occupation cu about eight miles ol of macadam road four miles of which are on the sabanas and four in the vicinity of ancon and la doca |
