Show I 1 yu U a ft 11 TA N E T I 1 N fi rp 4 L D PRESSING NEED MEED of NEW HIGH SCHOOL DISCUSSED ogden city citi improvement league and board of education go into do dc tails of situation an interesting and tm important por tnt meeting was held beld atthe at the office rooms of the city board of education last evening it was the meeting of a committee appointed by the ogden alt city improvement league and tho the city board of edu education catlon regarding tho the question rece recently submitted to tho taxpayers of wo tho city for the bonding of ogden in the sum of 90 for the construction of a now high school building and which WAS defeated by tho the people at a recent meeting of tho the league a resolution was passed which was expressive of the thought that a grove grave mistake had been made in not bonding the city for the erection of the high school building and a committee was appointed to lo confer with the board of education to determine what steps jf any might bo be takei to 0 o resubmit the bonding bending proposition to the people with the hope that the bonds 1111 glit be voted th the committee appointed consisted of i C nye J 8 lewis prof driggs of the state school mool for the deaf CRY city engineer parker and the rev J E carver of the Presby presbyterian church all of whom attended the meeting last night the board of 0 edu education catton was present also superintendent allison and principal david E F cloyd ot of the high ischook the object af pf p the meeting was war briefly stated bt bj S allison and a general discussion of the high school ensued lo 10 both th the committee from the improvement 7 tor for that purpose eme action may be taken in the matter the committee will report to the city league organization at the next meeting of the same and it is quite likely that its report will cause the organization to take some definite action for the purpose of calling another school bond election in the near future it Is IB held that the school population Is increasing so rapidly that immediate steps must mast be taken to provide room for the students to build a new high school building would greatly relieve the situation |
