SOUTHERN PACIFIC ASKS FOR RE washington feb 24 representatives of the southern pacific today appeared before the house committee on claims in behalf of that corporations as reimburse ment for abo cost of closing and controlling the break in the colorado river Dece imber 1 1906 to november 7 which threatened the inundation of the imperial valley in california and the destruction of vast crops this work was performed by tho southern pacific at the request of president roosevelt made directly to president E H the committee has requested tho reclamation bureau under whose general supervision the break was closed and the colorado river returned to its channel to supply full information respecting spec ting tho claim meantime no action will bo taken A bill for tho reimbursement of the southern pacific has been introduced by represents alve of california
