Show APPLICANT TO STATE BOARD NINETEEN certificates ISSUED BY EXAMINERS OF BARBERS busy session held in salt lake city some of the new laws on barbering 1 president W M piggott of ogden who has bag been in attendance at the two days session of the stats state board of examiners of barbers haa bag returned to his home in this city highly gratified with the work of the session in addition to transacting a number of matters of business the board issued nineteen certificates of competency to barbers to practice in salt lake county there were thirty applicants but only nineteen passed the rigid test tho the jurisdiction of the board has been greatly increased by the action of the late legislature old law remodeled the lato late legislature adopted a number of amendments to the old state law 1 aw on barbering which enables tho state board to maintain a high standard of excellence in the various shops of the state the old law only applied to tho the shops in cities clues of the first and second class but under the new law every city in the state Is included and the jurisdiction of the board now extends over cities and towns in utah the rules for sanitary shops may be enforced by the board and every barber must keep his shop and his tools scrupulously clean his razors sterilized and clean linen must be bo used for every customer and any lation of the rules of the board mas ma be followed by revocation ot of the barbers license must have certificate every barber must secure a certificate to be issued by the state board ot 0 examination before he can operate la any shop of the state such certificate costing 1 within ninety days of tho the date of the passage of the law any person not complying with this provision will not be allowed to bonti continue nuo his business as a barber the law now gives the state board authority to appoint deau deputy ay inspectors and tho plan Is io to appoint a deputy in each ot 0 the twenty seven counties of the state who shall have power to enter and inspect any barber shop during working hours and it shall be hia his duty to report any infraction of the sanitary rules adopted by the board for chrt regulation of shops in general forbidden from being barbered Barb erod another provision of the law bi its any person suffering from any akiu disease such as erysipelas eczema bercu losis or any other contagious or or any other contagious conta cont glou agiou or orr infectious diseases from being barbered in any shop school or college in the state and any violation of this provision is designated as a misdemeanor and the person so violating may be punished by fine or imprisonment or both in the discretion of the court this gives the board power to insist on clean shops carry out tho the law by appointing deputies to see that its pro visions are respected the present board Is composed as tol fol lows president W 51 piggott of ogden treasurer dr C 31 benedict of 0 salt lake city secretary perly A hill of salt lake city mr hill la 13 now serving his third term as secra tary ot of the state board and with tho the other members is much gratified at the passage of the new law by the state legislature which enables tho th board to hold the business of barbering to such a high standard as the present statute does |
