Show triumphant RETURN OF FAMOUS CHOIR utahna capture the hearts and admiration of the press and public of california as well as many trophies at the irrigation congress the triumphant return of the sol diers of caesar into rome after their many conquests while marked with a great deal more splendor could not have been any more enthusiastic than the return of the ogden tabernacle choir from the pacific coast yesterday morning where they added laurels to their increasing tame and did great credit to the city and state everywhere the californians are singing the praises of the famous mormon choral organization and in one voice proclaim all right it was yesterday morning that the splendid special train bearing the ogden singers steamed into the union depot after an absence of eight days in california while there was not a very large number of people at ithe depot to greet and welcome thema home on account of the earil ness of the hour the members of the organization felt as they alighted from the train that the city was there in spirit and welcome home and well done thou good and faithful servants it was only a few minutes after the train arrived and the many hurried goodbyes good byes were salil that the members were soon speeding homeward in conveyances on the street cars and afoot enjoying the beautiful morning and glad of the opportunity to be able to stretch themselves after the homeward journey although much has been written and said in praise of the local choral organization the fact remains that the trip to california was a glorious lesson in many respects in the first place it Is no little task to handle the details of such a trip as the one just ended and it can be said without flattery that manager charles J ross shown himself to be the in the right place for the arrangements were planned with such thoroughness ough ness that everything moved along like clock work no complaints have been beard or inconvenience suffered due to mismanagement every detail was looked after in advance and from the time the choir loft ogden until its return nothing was lost sight of which would in any way add to the comforts of those present not an accident of any sort occurred during the entire trip none complained of being sick but on the other hand every one expressed himself as never having felt better and the appetite which took hold of each of them had better be left as a souvenir in the minds of tha hotel proprietors who attempted to tho clavings cravings cravi tor atod things to eat among the many things demonstrated to the was the we not only produce good singers but gool consumers of the products of irrigated regions especially eatables considerable comment was heard around the hotels concerning the excellent conduct of every member of choir and especially tho good behavior of our girl members one proprietor etor when asked how he liked such guests as the cormons mormons Mor mons said that he was astonished and more than pleased with the actions of those comprising the tabernacle choir from utah and concluded by saying that every arl was a perfect lady and every man a gentleman and that he was proud to have as guests such a well behaved aggregation of young people sacramento welcomed the choir on its return trip from san francisco in a manner which will long be remembered tremendous audiences greeted the singers at the two closing concerts on friday afternoon and evening it was estimated by members of the executive committee that matre than ten thousand people paid admission to the big agricultural building on friday evening when the choir gave its last concerts people who have spent their lives in sacramento said that never before had they witnessed such a crowd the vast building was taxed to its capacity and hundreds remained on the outside anxious to get a peep in at the large entrance the decorations were in harmony with the spirit of the occasion the draperies which bung from the high batters ratters rat the numerous neatly arranged booths for exhibits thea thousands of men women and children wending and crowding their way from one place of interest to another was a sight that many of those who witnessed it from the balcony will never see again it was the crowning glory of the fifteenth national irrigation congress and when the choir arose to sing the famous soldiers chorus that vast audience stood with upturned faces until the last note was sung when 1 broke into loud and continuous applause from all parts of the building the enthusiasm increased with each number sung and after the rendition of the last number tokens of appreciation began to arrive in front of the choir in the shape of large bou of beautiful flowers seat up by delegates to the congress in appreciation of the efforts of the choir to make the congress a huge success such a floral bombardment caused a i commotion among the members of the choir and in acknowledgment they 1 arose in a body when hon FJ klesel appeared with his anna loaded with i flowers and dropped them into the laps of the lady members mr kiesel Is surely a strong favorite among the members of the choir in conclusion the question naturally arises Is the good done by sending the choir to represent utah the expense in answer we need but quote mr W II 11 beard and mr gpo Pelt ler members of the committee who were personally
