| Show EXPERT ON OIL champion of wyoming fields says boria wants ruminants Cumi nants not lubricants C 0 richardson recognized as ono of the best oil field experts in this western country and one of the very first to recognize tho importance of the colorado and wyoming fields came in from the east monday says the herald after having raised with which to continue the de of the lands owned by ther standard reserve company in uenta county wyoming about miles east of ogden on his way out and since his arrival here mr richardson has been reading the accounts of the new discoveries in the virgen city field and naturally enough he Is prone to minimize concerning the quality of the southern oil and its commercial value several years ago said mr richardson 1 I occupied space in the herald to call attention to the magnificent oil fields of wyoming I 1 then urged upon utah investors the desirability sir ability of getting in and besides acquiring individual fortunes making salt lake an oil center without any desire of making a personal appeal for myself or my company I 1 still maintain that it Is not too late for this city and state to profit immeasurably by invading our field I 1 dont wanta to say anything against the virgen city country but I 1 would like to say something about the qualities of oil that should interest any one contemplating tem plating an embarkation in the oil business let me say in the first place that no crude petroleum has over yet been analyzed so called analyses similar to that primed in one of your local papers on the product from tho virgen city field are simply distillations those giving big quantities of lubricating oils are not desirable pe because we have an overproduction of lubricants there are half a dozen states in america that can lubricate the world and never call on the other states for a drop near moorcroft book county wyoming about aw miles from salt lake there is the very finest high grade lubricating oil in the world see petroleum tr productions of the united states tor 1905 by W Y graswold of the interior department IT S geological survey and still as an investment today the man that would put a dollar in that field and expect a ready return on his investment would be considered as requiring a guardian the same is true of the lubricating oil fields of natrona county wyoming it the virgen city field has anything better it Is not disclosed in the so called analyses 1 I have often stated during the past tour months that the public is unable to distinguish that there is any particular difference between hog grease lard bovine grease tallow and bean grease castor oil and still there is more difference between the various grades of petroleum than exists between lard tallow and castor oil the most valuable pert oleum in the world is at the gates of salt lake but i Is at the northeast and not at the south gate no one can truthfully contradict the statement that with present marbet conditions and the conditions existing in the known oil fields of ahe world the chances tor profitable investment exists the fields that are capable of yi eLling large quantities of and such fields are rare those who aie posted realize that there has been discovered during the past fifteen or more years only one field that can possibly relieve the impending famine in high grade gasoline and kerosene at leroy and spring valley wyoming we get as high as 28 per cent of napolia viz gasoline and benzine and about 59 per cent of kerosene to say nothing of 3 per cent of in the crude oil the most found in any petroleum in the united states that field is only miles or so trophia hia city but because a political division of this great united states puts it in wyoming instead of utah it finds no particular favor here gasoline is going to double in price during the next five years and that is going to happen even whether the standard oil company willa it or not if that corporation was fined 29 every day for a year it would make no difference the price is goins on because there la scarcity tf growing scarcity of the products named the standard oil company Is ah sol helpless hel plesa as to the illuminating oil situation only in april ot this lear it notified all of its principal representatives that under no condition must they encourage the use of gasoline as the company was unable to take care of its present all 74 per cent to 76 per cent gasoline had been out of the maikels of the world for a year on the day of last june today when you think you are getting ca fsr cent gasoline alno times out of ten you are getting only ca per cent or leas as alie present practice is to let the high of kerosene go over into the gasoline to enlarge those very desirable qualities and make them go farther the average petroleum of the world gives off about 3 per cent of gasoline some of the ohio colo rado pennsylvania and kentucky peti oleum give off much more than that but tho of california tes as kansas louisiana illinois indiana oklahoma indian territory west virginia tennessee and kentucky do not materially help the illuminating lumina ting oil world and these states and territories that do produce auml nants are overtaxed and some of them practically exhausted in keeping up the supply |
