Show from the duly THE MARSHALS ORDERS the correspondence between marshal parades on one band and the club 0 county and borne ninety two citizens of on den lity other is given in full in another column it will proc lively reading to all who are interested te in the peculiar state of affairs which baa led up to it and will be curiously watched as to ita tendency to widen or heal the breach which the Marel original action created in his letter the marshal does just what every one knew he must do that is assume the responsibility 0 bis deput ys acts and decline to accede to any proposition looking to the retirement As a roan of honor be could do no acca than this deputy pratt fulfilled the orders of his chief however obnoxious those orders may have been to tha signers of the request for bis removal it is clearly the business of that chief to stand between hia subordinate and any odium which his mere obedience to orders may have caused it is quite proper therefore that marshal parsons should sustain deputy and while this is his duty it is not improper that these an whose request the original action was taken should sustain marshal parsons it his official course was beyond his legitimate authority such endorsement would be no extenuation but if bis action is within his pre tive and is merely a question cf propriety be is entitled to the moral support of in whose behalf he acted it is understood that in this view of the subject lettera of approval and endorsement have already been sent to him we do not propose to discuss at this time either the legal or political phases of the controversy one thing h certain an improved state of internal affairs was its immediate result it has not fully developed as yet and it may go no farther marshal Par bonss concluding conveys an intimation ti to this effect while he says there can be no going back he also adds that be hopes there will be no occasion to proceed farther in the same direction the sentence is acry adroitly worded and will be accorded general approval it is susceptible cep tible of three or tour different constructions according to the sympathy or leaning of the reader but that need not lessen thi satisfaction satie faction with which it can be received since whatever meaning may hereafter be put upon it the writer can always be credited with eaid what he meant |
