Show PASSING AWAY OF AN OLD TIMER JOSEP the funeral services over the remains of joseph who died at his home in lynu on wednesday evening will be held from the ward meeting house at 2 p m on monday next mr harrop had been a sufferer from heart trouble since last thanksgiving time and had not been out much since that time mr harrop was one of the veterans of ogden having come here before the move joseph harrop was born september and 2nd in england and emigrated to utah as a member of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints in 1857 he settled first in ogden but went south tho following year with the exodus of the people who fled from the approach of johnsons army he settled in spanish fork and remained there till 1862 when he returned to ogden where ho has since made his home mr harrop was on of the first to haul utah flour and produce to the mines in montana having freighted for several years in company samuel Ilor rocks his blotner in law peter rogers and bob fisher he had many experiences during those years when danger from indians highwaymen and freebooters lurked behind almost every rock and buah and stared at the traveler from around every turn in the road the freighting over mr harrop settled down upon his farm and has since led a quiet unassuming life he was appointed superintendent of the lynn sunday school nearly thirty years ago and held the position up to the time of his death beside his connection with the sunday school he was tor a number of years leader of the ward choir and was a prominent singer in the choir at the time of his last illness A quiet and unassuming man he was in all his life not a man of wide acquaintance or stirring deeds but one who lived close to the hearts of djs family and personal friends five sons james joseph edward samuel and aaron and two daughters mrs alice anderson and mrs martha hutchens survive him ho liaa connected by marriage with samuel hoi rocks and fred garner the three having married sisters all who knew him mourn his loss |
