Nov. 11 Willie IIoppc, the champion billiard player of the world, successfully defe'uded his laurels at the Astor hotel tonight in the opening game of a tournament for) the 18.2 balk line billiard title IIoppc defeated Harry Cline oi Philadelphia by a score of COO to 191 Ora Morningstar had a much hard-ei hard-ei time of it in disposing of the eteran, George Slosson, but finulh manager to turn the trick by graco of a strong finish, GOO to 47-1 For almost half the match Slosson was in the lead, securing a marked advantage when he ran M0 in the thirteenth inning. The youngor man held on doggedly, however, played by far the more consistently and finally mannged to win with something to spare Both Morningstar and Slosson Slos-son displayed better form than did Willie lloppe.
