Show SAVANTS ON A SPECIAL TRAIN The American and European geographers geo-graphers who are members of tho transcontinental excursion of the American Geographic society, passed through Ogden this morning en route for Salt Lake. They arrived from San Francisco in a special train. -The distinguished excursionists have completed a tour of the northwest and tho Pacific coast, where they were astonished at the wondorful growth and ovldonces of prosperity and progrebs on every Bldo. After vlBltlng points of interest the! party will proceed to tho mouth of Little Cottonwood canyon over the j old territorial road, and will Inspect j the Wasatch fault, aluvlal fans, moraines, mo-raines, contact of Cambrian quartz-Ite quartz-Ite nnd granite, and similar unusual phonoraona. From 5 until 6 o'clock will be spent at tho Dcseret museum, In Salt Lake, where Director Talmage will escort the geographers through tho different departments and explain the history of the many valuable collections col-lections there. An Informal bmoker will be given thiB evening at tho Commercial club. A special feature will be addresses by the foreign members of the excursion ex-cursion of their impressions of America Amer-ica or on any other subject they may choose. All members of the club faculties of educational institutions and citizens have been Invited to attend at-tend the smoker. On Tuesday the geographers will make the trip to Bingham. Every precaution will be taken to protect the visitors during their stay In the Bingham strike zone. On Wednesday tho party will be taken to Saltair, at 9 o'clock In the morning. Bathing will be in order to those who care to make the cold plunge. no |
