Show ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING OF STUDENTS The first general meeting of tho student body of tho Weber academy took place this morning from 9 to 10. The purpose f tho meeting was the instillation of the officers elected by the students last spring to serve for this year. Peter Kaslus, '12. last year's president, pres-ident, presided at the meeting. Tho first number fa8 a piano solo by Robert Rob-ert Jones Tin's was followed by an address by Mr. Kaslus in whicli ho enumerated the reform policies for whicli tho last year's administration stood. II o appealed to tho students; to carry on the work and to sccuro the adoption of a student body ticket thai should bo good at all school activities. ac-tivities. Ho explained that many amendments to the student body constitution con-stitution hud been proposed and urged urg-ed an Intelligent study of the same. In Introducing Jesse Cottle, his successor, suc-cessor, as president of the student body, he said that he had always thought it an honor to follow the ions: line of predecessors In the office of student body president, but thnt now he doemed It a greater honor to be able to intioduce such a worthy man as Jesee Cottle as his successor. Mr. Cottle, in his speech of acceptance, accep-tance, said thai ho would do his best to keei the standard of Weber up to her best traditions. He said ht thought the students ought to tnke part in the morning devotional talks, and he advocated the organization of a literary society for tho advancement of story writing and public speaking. He then Introduced the other officers. Vice President Mabel Rlrie, Secretary Secre-tary and Treasurer Lloyd Muller, Athletic Ath-letic Manager Vadal Peterson, Yell Master Arnold Renstrom and Standard Stand-ard Hearer Hubert Hall. Never before, at this time of year, have there been so many students enrolled en-rolled at the academy, and everything points to a most successful school year. oo |
