Show HEALTH BOARD INVESTIGATION At a meeting of the city health board yesterday a report was received from Glty Sanitary Inspector George Shorten and City Physician Walter Whalen, who recently investigated the I methods employed by the health department de-partment of Salt Lake. The report, In addition to a detailed summary of their findings, showed that there wore 21 persons employed in the Zion department de-partment and that the annual cost of operating the department was $75.-000. $75.-000. Among the suggestions made by the Ogden investigators as a result of their trip was a bacteriological equipment equip-ment for the city physician's office, the approximate cost being $200; a milk, testing machine, to bo Installed at the city hail at a cost of about $100; health officers employed by the city to wear uniforms and the city to provide some means of transportation transporta-tion for the department workers. The report was. received and placed on file. The reporL of Inspector Shorten as to the health of the city during October Octo-ber showed that there had been 2C cases of contagious diseases, 15 of which arc still under quarantine There were 45 births, 23 of which were male children, and 22 female. Twenty-six deaths occurred during tho month, nineteen male and seven female. |
