Show COURT MUST 0,PEN ON TIME Judgo Nnthnn J. Harris lias established estab-lished a positive rule thnt court shall be called promptly at the hour designated desig-nated and that all attaches and litigants, liti-gants, together with attorneys, shali be on hand at tho appointed hour to attend to tho business of the court. Heretofore there has been considerable consid-erable laxness In this respect, both on tho part of tho Judge and otherb concerned in court matters. Litlgauth. lawyers, Jurors, witnesbes and court attnehea have been kept waiting long after tho time for opening of court bo-cause bo-cause of somo trivial matter that might bo taken up with tho Judge in chambers or because of lack of memory mem-ory on the part of some one connected with the court, until considerable impatience im-patience has been expressed. Jiidge Harris says that there will ho no delay hereafter In calling court on the hour. If the court Is adjourned adjourn-ed to meet at 10 o'clock that will 1 the time of tho opening unless there Is absolute necessity for delay In the hearing at hand and in that event the bailiff will make the announcement In open court at the hour of ppcnlng It Is expected that the rule will bo as vigorously enforced as it Is in tho federal court under tho direction of Judge John A. Marshall Tho judge, the jury, the witnesses, the litigants, attorneys, clerks, stenographers ste-nographers and all concerned In the business of tho court must be on time The new rule is accepted with do-light do-light by all who have to do with tho district court and It is expected that much more will be accomplished In the court than heretofore and that tho proceedings of the court will be much more satisfactory |
