Show ttENITES TO' BUILD THE' RAILROAD Within tho past twenty-four hoirs-there hoirs-there havy been rapid developments In the big coal and railroad deal in Emory county udder the dlrectipn of William G. Sharp, president of the United States Smelting, Refining & Mining company, David .Eccles, president of the Utah Construction company, and W. rf. Wattia, general manager of that concern, con-cern, yesterday wont down on the Denver & Rio Grande train to go over the routo recently surveyed for the Utah Coal railroad. Incidentally, it may be said that Mr Eccles Is tho owner of some coal acreage in Huntington canyon that in all likelihood is to go Into the big combination that is being effected. No definite statement js out as to the part David Eccles "will take in trio amalgamation of coal and railroad rail-road interests that is being worked out in Emery county tl is said, however, how-ever, that the construction company of which he is president will do the work of building the Utah Coal railroad, rail-road, receiving therefor an equitable Interest In the lino and in the coal mines and ground accumulated by Mr. Sharp. Black Hawk Property. The Black Hawk coal mine property prop-erty was bought outright by Mr, Sharp for a sum announced to haVo been $000,000. This property was formerly for-merly owned by David Eccles, Judgo H.. H Rolapp, E. S. Rolapp, the Scow-croft Scow-croft brothers, the Browning brothers and Jphn Plngree, all of Ogden Aside from the interests of those men which are being morged in the amalgamation, there are the holdings of J. R. Sharp, G. A. Iverson, James G. Berryhlll, A. J. Orem, J H. Mays, M N. Helner, Windsor V. Rice. J S Critchlow, William 'S. McCornick and his associates, F. A. Sweet, C T. Lem-loy, Lem-loy, W. H. Sweet, F. W. Francis, C N. Sweet, M W, Mitchell, J H. White. L. L Legg. Heber M. Wells. H. R. Macmillan, W. C. Orem, A. L. Fullmer, Full-mer, all of which aro expected to bo acquired sooner or later In consummation consum-mation of the purposes intended in tho mammoth deal. The fact that Messrs. Eccles and Wattls. who nro the executive forces in the Utah Construction company, yesterday began a tour of Inspection of the proposed Utah Coal railroad Is taken as evidence that the work of building In this project will begin as soon as practicable. Mr. Eccles Is a multimillionaire of vast experience In promoting big concerns con-cerns in the west and the northwest. He is regarded as the lumber king of this entire region. There is reason to believe that he will have a large part in the big Emery county project, associating himself with the powerful interests, represented in the United States Smolting, Refining & Mining company. Perhaps the public can have no adequate conception of tho magnitude of the deal that is now In progress In Emery county. In fact, it is Impossible Impos-sible to realize Its scope, since the promoters are not disposed to give out Information on the subject. But so much has become known that' a faint idea of the gigantic character of tho combination is rendered possible. pos-sible. When all the facts shall be available the vastness of the enterprise enter-prise will undoubtedly startle even the most speculative |
