Show GETTING A STAND OP TlMOTTiy. The first essential Is to get the land In good Condition. If it happens to bo land that was plowed last fall two or three harrowings would prepare, a good spi'd bed. but if it is cornstalk ground it will take two good disklngs at least, and after the seed is sown It will pay to harrow the surface once or twice. Ten pounds of timothy seed will make a very satisfactory stand If the land ls well prepared. Even eight pounds per acre will give good rosultx If tho season Is at all favorable, but as timothy seed Is nol expensive we would advlvo using ten pounds. Tho best results nrc obtained by put ting the small grain In with a drill and scattering the timothy .s.ced In front of the disks or chains so that the timothy tim-othy plantx will come up between tho rows of grain. , - - -a - - |
